Research Assistant Professor

About Me

YoonJeung Chang is a Research Assistant Professor at Texas Tech University. She is originally from Seoul, South Korea. After completing her PhD in Physiology and Neurobiology at University of Connecticut, she completed her postdoctoral training at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Cellular Biology and Genetics (Dresden, Germany), and at Harvard Medical School. She worked as a scientific specialist at University of California San Francisco before joining Texas Tech University.

Research

YoonJeung has studied the role of human microcephaly genes in the generation of neurons in the developing cerebral cortex, the molecular and cellular diversity of the serotonergic system in relation to sudden infant death syndrome, and the molecular and cellular composition of respiratory control centers in the brainstem. Her research focus at TTU is on the molecular and cellular mechanisms that generate the diversity of neurons in the serotonergic system, and how it contributes to various homeostatic physiological functions such as breathing.

Service

YoonJeung has been a member of Society for Neuroscience since 2001.
