PURPOSE: The purpose of this School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) policy document is to define the role and membership of the SVM Clinical Program Advisory Council (CPAC).

DATE OF POLICY: 15JULY2026

REVIEW: This SVM Policy shall be reviewed every third year by the Office of Clinical Programs (OCP). Revisions will be forwarded to the Dean’s Executive Leadership Council for review and disposition.

BACKGROUND: To enhance the TTU SVM Clinical Program’s outcomes, sufficient feedback (of breadth and depth) is needed from personnel directly and indirectly involved in the programmatic, operational, educational, and mentoring areas of the clinical program.  An advisory council charged with acquiring, collating and delivering constructive and relevant feedback on the performance of the operational and educational aspects of the clinical program is essential to this effort. 

ROLES OF THE COMMITTEE:

  1. Offer feedback on aspects of the clinical program
  2. Query the clinical partner network 
  3. Collate feedback
  4. Deliver relevant recommendations to OCP

Activities of the Committee: The Council will perform its work relative to the mission of the TTU SVM. Activities of the CPAC may include:

  • Provide advice on how to enhance the clinical program delivery. 
  • Investigate, identify and articulate areas in the clinical program that may need improvement or are worthy of commendation.
  • Generate surveys, phone interviews or other means to acquire feedback from the greater network on clinical program performance.
  • Provide recommendations that have been analyzed across sufficient breadth and depth to warrant action. 

REPORTING: The Clinical Program Advisory Council reports to the Clinical Programs Committee.

COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP AND MEETINGS: This Council will be made up of members, representing faculty, staff, students, and community members. Each Council member will be selected based on nominations by faculty, staff, or by self-nomination. The Associate Dean of Clinical Programs will select community partners in consultation with the CPC chair and OCP team.

    1 Non-Clinical Instructor from Clinic Staff (Practice Manager or other)

    1 Alumnus or Clinical Year Student 

Leadership and Term Lengths: Term lengths of initial members will be one or two years. Subsequent terms will be two years. Members can be renominated upon completion of their terms. The ADCP will select the initial Chair and/or Co-Chairs, and they shall serve a term of 2 years. Subsequently, members will elect the Chair(s) and the Chair(s) will serve in that role for 2 years.

Quorum: A quorum, which will consist of 60% of the voting membership of the Council, will be required for all meetings in which issues are to be brought to a vote.

Meeting Frequency and Agenda: The CPAC will meet quarterly, and an agenda will be shared among CPAC members at least 48 hours prior to the set meetings.
