Scholarly Film Society

Film reelAll students, staff, or faculty interested in the scholarship in film and television are welcome to participate in the Scholarly Film Society.

The Scholarly Film Society (TSFS) is interested in developing research and scholarship in television and film, especially surrounding film studies and film rhetoric. TSFS tackles social issues and concerns through scholarly approaches to teaching, research, and writing about film and television. Additionally, we seek to explore meaningful issues that promote empathy and intellectual growth to better foster global intellectual leaders.

Some of TSFS' current projects seek to:

  1. develop a scholarly film journal to showcase student work and develop scholarly writing,
  2. advance scholarship in the field of film studies (research, publication, conferences, etc.), and
  3. host workshops to serve the teaching community in and around Lubbock and TTU with a range of topics, including teaching with film).

All are welcome.
