Welcome

The purpose of the Graduate English Society is to promote professionalism, collegiality, and collaboration within our department to provide an added dimension and resource to the graduate experience. All graduate students in the Department of English are welcome and encouraged to join. While each domain of the graduate program offers students membership to specific organizations salient to his or her concentration, the GES affords participants the opportunity to network and collaborate across those domains. Through participation in this organization, students will gain resources, build relationships, and develop professionally.

Statement of Purpose

The Graduate English Society (GES) at Texas Tech University is a student organization dedicated to providing opportunities for English graduate students to participate in the Texas Tech University academic community. Membership is free of charge. Each year, the GES Conference showcases presentations and papers of English graduate students. We encourage all GES members to share their research at this conference. The GES also serves to facilitate communication between English graduate students and faculty in an effort to promote intradepartmental camaraderie and disclosure. In addition to these benefits, GES members are frequently appointed to serve on departmental committees and advocate student interests.
