Helpful Tips

Before You Record

To make the most out of your studio time, finish writing and learning material before you arrive.

Have documentation available to keep you on track and help your engineer see your vision. This can include sheet music, lyrics, lead sheets, or narration scripts, as well as reference tracks from artists you love, previous recordings you’ve made, or video to pair with voiceovers.

We share most files via OneDrive. If you want a different format for session data, bring it with you to your session.

When You Record

Recording takes more time than just playing through a song. An hour to record about five minutes of audio is a good rule of thumb but more instruments and more complexity can increase that time.

Arrive well-rehearsed and warmed up to make the best use of your time in the studio.

A positive and courteous attitude makes recording sessions much more productive.

Come prepared with instruments in good playing condition and extra guitar picks or drum sticks. When recording vocals, make sure to bring a full water bottle.

After You Record

Decide whether you want our staff to mix and master your recordings for you or if you’d like raw data to take to another studio.

Session data is kept for six months after a project is completed. If you would like additional edits or backup copies, plan accordingly.

We are happy to provide master files to take to a duplication facility. Staff can recommend reputable facilities if you are unsure where to start.
