Fall 2023 Student Survey

The annual survey is a way for the Library to understand what our students need and how we can improve to better serve our patrons. The questions ranged from overall satisfaction to the specifics of what services you used the most.

Students were unaware of some library services

The Libraries provide many services for our students and patrons. Students who took the survey could rate a service or select the option "Wasn't aware of this service." Students reported their least-known services were:

  • Anatomy model checkout
  • Assistance via chat or text
  • Audiovisual equipment checkout (e.g., cameras, projectors)
  • Course reserves
  • Crossroads Recording Studio
  • EndNote citation management software
  • Guest lecture by a librarian
  • Scheduled assistance from the person librarian for my major or department
  • Virtual Reality Lab

Chat with or text a librarian!

Chat widget icon

Nearly 19% of students were unaware that there was a chat/text option available to access assistance from librarians. Look for the chat icon on the lower right side of the website to start a chat session for immediate help. Also look for the "Need Help?" menu option at the top of our website that lists all the ways you can get in touch with us.

You told us how we helped

We received many comments in this survey about how we made a positive difference in your studies.

  • "Keep up the great work! Library resources have been invaluable to my research."
  • "TTU libraries and OneSearch has been hands down the most useful service TTU has provided during my doctoral coursework."
  • "Doing an excellent job with the weekly workshops. The library has a warm and welcoming environment. Appreciate the spotlight on people and cultures in the lobby. And the snack options are great."
  • "I worked with a librarian for my education dissertation and she was extremely helpful in helping me get resources."

As you can see, your Library is dedicated to helping you be as successful as possible by giving you assistance and access to necessary information, materials, and services.

Issues commented on this year

Through this survey, we received feedback regarding concerns that were voiced through survey comments.

  • "The library is very unappealing visually. It would be much nicer if it could be renovated and cleaned."
  • "Please make the personal study room big. We want a place where we could focus on academics, but it is too tiny, sometimes noisy and the chair is too uncomfortable. Please work on them to make study room more attractive to students."
  • "The library spaces are often very dirty. There is garbage on the floors, food items, crumbs, and the desks are often dirty. This applies to both the open study areas and the private study rooms. There have been instances where the dirty condition of the floor and desks persists for four days without being cleaned. More attention should be allocated to the cleanliness of the library spaces. Additionally, trash cans are often full and remain full for multiple days with the same pile of trash."
