The Department of Plant & Soil Science is committed to addressing environmental and societal challenges through cutting-edge research and hands-on education. Our curriculum emphasizes engaging, hands-on scientific exploration that spans from cellular studies to entire ecosystems.

Our faculty guide students through a broad spectrum of research areas, encompassing plant breeding and genomics, horticulture, turfgrass science, viticulture, and water management. Our department is home to two cutting-edge institutes: the Institute of Genomics for Abiotic Stress Tolerance and the Fiber & Biopolymer Research Institute. Moreover, we boast a renowned horticulture garden utilized for hands-on learning and research in addition to community events.
