Ranch Horse Program
It is the mission of the TTU Equine Programs to train students in all aspects of equine-assisted therapy, horse judging, horsemanship, rodeo, reproduction, management and safety; thus enriching the equine industry. It is further the mission of the program to contribute to the scientific knowledge in these areas through research.
The Ranch Horse Program at Texas Tech University encompasses the horse judging team, the ranch horse team, the therapeutic riding club, the equestrian team and the rodeo team. Texas Tech offers exceptional facilities for their Ranch Horse Program including the Equestrian Center, Dubs Memorial Park and the Horse Center.
The Texas Tech Equestrian Center is the Venue for many different events. Horse shows of all kinds, team ropings, calf ropings, barrel races, clinics, youth activities and even agility dog shows are the types of events hosted at the Center. The Center offers an indoor arena with seating for approximately 700 people, evaporative coolers, new bucking chutes and "Big # Fans" installed in March of 2008. Two warm-up arenas with lease and 1-3 more large arenas available for an additional charge. 145 indoor stalls on site. Quality competitive ground, tractor and drag available. NOTICE: If you are coming to an equine event at the Center, you MUST have a copy of your horse's NEG. COGGINS to enter. All event producers are required to check for coggins and NO STALL will be leased with out one! Please come prepared or you WILL BE TURNED AWAY.
