Kristina Lewis

Kristina Lewis is a fourth-year PhD candidate studying Early British Medieval Literature.

MA | Sam Houston State University | English

BA | Sam Houston State University | English

Teaching

Kristina's previous courses taught include First-Year Writing (1301 and 1302), Intro to Film Studies (TA), and Introduction to Poetry. She is currently teaching ENGL 2305: Introduction to Poetry and ENGL 3303: Medieval Literature in England.

Research

Kristina's current research examines the process of human-making: that is, how the medieval human constructs and defines the non-human (through linguistic and/or physical violence) during moments of interaction as monstrous, racialized, or otherwise non-recuperable into the category of human. Her dissertation aims to investigate how certain narrators and protagonists of medieval texts, through this process of human-making, justify their dehumanizing actions and words while simultaneously affirming their perception of their own rightness and constructing their human-ness.

Service

Kristina has served as the President of the Tech Book History Club since 2019 and was one of the Assistant Directors of First-Year Writing for the 2020-2021 academic year.
