mónica teresa ortiz montes is a poet born, raised, and based in Texas. They have a BA in English Literature from the University of Texas at Austin and an MFA in poetry from the University of Texas at El Paso. Mónica is pursuing a PhD in Creative Writing at Texas Tech University and is a Graduate Part-Time Instructor in First Year Writing. Their most recent work, Book of Provocations, is the 2024 winner of the Joe Bratcher Prize from Host Publications.
