Marni Reecer

Marni Reecer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Germanics from the University of Washington and a Master’s degree in German from Texas Tech University. Her Master’s thesis, “Threads of Remembrance: Exploring Materiality and Resilience in Thomas Hettche’s Herzfaden” is available here.

Currently a Ph.D. candidate in Comparative Literature at Texas Tech, Marni’s research focuses on the transformative power of youth literature across transnational landscapes. Guided by a deep belief in literature's ability to foster empathy, her work investigates how digital platforms and multimedia elements influence the themes, narratives, and reception of youth literature in both Germanic and English-speaking cultures. Marni aims to uncover how these narratives shape the perspectives of young readers and future leaders, emphasizing the role of fantasy-infused stories in cultivating cross-cultural understanding and empathy.

Her academic endeavors reflect a commitment to exploring the intersections of technology, literature, and cultural studies, making significant contributions to the fields of Comparative Literature and educational theory.
