In a stunningly quick rise of steel - one weekend - construction teams placed the steel girders that will serve as the core foundation of a new two-story tower going into place just outside Texas Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Dean's Office on the northwest corner of the Goddard building. The project, scheduled for completion by the end of February, completes the exterior enhancement of CASNR's new Bayer Plant Science Building and visually ties the new and old buildings together. The tower is being built by Vaughn Construction.
Walking down the long rows of pens at any animal shelter reveals a veritable smorgasbord of canine variety. Big dogs. Little dogs. Outgoing dogs. Shy dogs. Hyper dogs. Calm dogs. Happy dogs. Sad dogs.
The Texas South Plains produces about 30 percent of the nation's cotton, 15 percent of the livestock and most of those products depend on the groundwater below us. And while the South Plains isn't failing yet as a whole, human activities continue to deplete water resources faster than they can rejuvenate.
In the final competitions before the national championships later in November, the Texas Tech University Meat Judging Team and Livestock Judging Team had strong showings in competitions held this past weekend.
