Pedro Mena Vega, Ph.D

Pedro Mena Vega (Seville, 1991) is a Ph.D. architect and co-founder of the cooperative firm A Contrapelo, with which he has develo-ped most of his work standing out in the fields of illustration and dissemination of architecture. His doctoral dissertation, which explores the connections between form and experience in urban spaces, was published as Una arquitectura del perímetro by Diputación de Sevilla in 2024.
He has taught regularly at the Texas Tech University Study Abroad program since 2019, published in research journals and participated in international conferences. His experience as a practicing architect includes built private commissions as well a first prize in the public competition for the design of 135 housing units in Seville in 2019.
These pursuits compose a panorama that moves back and forth between history, theory, design, and representation in architecture and which has been reflected in a wide range of activities over the past decade.
