Horn Distinguished Professors
Being named a Horn Professor is the highest honor received by faculty members at Texas Tech University. Also known as “Paul Whitfield Horn Distinguished Professorships,” named in honor of Paul Whitfield Horn, the first President of the institution.
This acknowledgment is bestowed upon individuals who have achieved notable recognition at national and/or international levels in their research or other creative scholarly pursuits.
The nomination process is a highly tiered one, containing thorough evaluation by an assessment committee, endorsement letters from distinguished authorities and prominent experts within the nominee's field, dossiers that demonstrate immense publication and scholarly service, and final approval by the Board of Regents.
