Grayson King is from Rockwall, Texas, and serves as the 102nd Student Body President for the 2026-2027 academic year. Grayson is a Senior majoring in Finance with a minor in Political Science and is working towards his certificate in Real Estate through the Rawls College of Business Administration.
Dedicated to service, he has been active in the Student Government Association for two years. He first served as an Ambassador for the SGA, describing the experience as crucial to his understanding of what it takes to most effectively represent the student body as a whole. As Student Body President, he strives to improve outreach efforts and engage with students across campus to ensure their voices are heard.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Standards Board for Phi Delta Theta, where he has also served as Vice President. Grayson also spent time in Washington, D.C., through Texas Techs Government and Public Service Internship Program. There, he spent three months working in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, under the leadership of Secretary Scott Turner and a Texas Tech alumnus, Deputy Secretary Andrew Hughes. Grayson has expressed a deep gratitude for the experience and attributes his realized call to public service to his time spent in Washington, D.C.
During his freshman year, Grayson was able to walk on the Texas Tech Football team as a Wide Receiver. While he was only able to compete for a short amount of time before injuries prohibited further involvement in collegiate athletics, he describes this experience as a learning opportunity that molded him into the leader he is today. He will be the first to tell you that he was not the biggest, the strongest, or the fastest. However, he saw how vital every component of a team is to its success. Thus, he aims to engage students of Texas Tech in a similar way, reminding all Red Raiders that while we are each pursuing our own goals, the true strength of this university lies in our willingness to lift one another up, celebrate shared victories, and leave a lasting impact on the generations of students who follow.
Grayson believes that his unique perspective, shaped through involvement in a wide range of campus experiences, including academic organizations, Greek Life, and even collegiate athletics, has given him a deep appreciation for the diverse journeys that define the Texas Tech experience. Guided by a servant's heart, a commitment to inclusion, and a passion for making a lasting impact, he is prepared to lead with the student body as Texas Tech continues to reach new heights in the classroom, in athletic competition, and in the communities it serves.
