Area organizers gear up for 'Celebrate Cotton' game at Texas Tech on Sept. 12

Texas Tech University and the 'Celebrate Cotton' campaign is set to host its fourth annual event in recognition of the cotton industry on Sept. 12 when Red Raiders take on the University of Texas-El Paso Miners at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock. The game is a partnership between Texas Tech Athletics, Plains Cotton Growers and several area agribusinesses.

Texas Tech ACT Chapter takes stage at national Ag Media Summit in Scottsdale

Led by its public relations students, Texas Tech's Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow chapter had a strong showing this week at the national 'Ag Media Summit' in Scottsdale, Ariz. Program officials said more than 600 participants attended the summit, one of the largest gatherings of crop and livestock publications professionals in the United States.

Texas Tech's AEC hosts Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education event

More than 35 high school instructors from across the nation were on Texas Tech's campus for a special agricultural science education course last month, said officials of Tech's Department of Agricultural Education and Communications, who hosted the 11-day academic event. The focus was on providing a high-level educational experience to enhance the rigor and relevance of agriculture, food, and natural resources subject matter.

A major facelift for some of Texas Tech's most iconic scenes is winding down this summer. The greening of the West Library Mall and the area surrounding Tech's iconic Dairy Barn are part of a $2.5 million campus beautification project that included the university's Broadway Avenue entrance and Memorial Circle.
