Strickling Senior Leaders Scholarship Program

Five Strickling Senior Leaders Scholarship recipients in 2024

Roxane and Ben Strickling believe in the power of education and want to reward and set College of Education undergraduate students up for success after leaving Texas Tech. Roxane, a College of Education graduate, and Ben, an Edward E. Whitacre College of Engineering graduate, created the Strickling Senior Leaders scholarship program in fall 2023, and this program gives every undergraduate student graduating from the College of Education a scholarship the semester their degree is conferred. Because of Roxane and Ben's generosity and belief in our students, they have created the largest scholarship program of its kind at Texas Tech University.

For being awarded Strickling Senior Leaders scholarship, recipients will be given a Strickling Senior Leaders cord to wear at graduation. This cord was designed by Roxane in honor of her mother, who was a classroom teacher. Recipients will be invited to a Strickling Senior Leaders Reception close to graduation to receive their cord and celebrate their accomplishments.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will students receive funding?

Students will expect to receive funding close to their graduation date. The Strickling Senior Leader scholarship will be marked as part of their award package the semester the degree is conferred, and funds will be dispersed once the student successfully passes all courses and graduation is confirmed.

How will students receive the money?

Funding will be awarded in one of three ways:

  1. Applied to an existing balance via Raiderlink financial aid
  2. Direct deposited to the bank account on file via Raiderlink
  3. A check will be mailed to the permanent address on file for the student

How is a student eligible?

This scholarship is available to all undergraduate seniors from the College of Education the semester their degree is conferred in. A student's major must be a College of Education major. If your minor is from the College of Education and your major is not from the College of Education, you do not qualify. Teaching certification is not a factor in receiving this scholarship.

Scholarship thank you letters MUST be submitted via Double T Dashboard, or this scholarship will be revoked.

Do Strickling Senior Leaders attend cording/induction?

Strickling Senior Leaders will receive their cords at a separate reception event. Induction is reserved for students that have passed their teaching certification and is separate from the Strickling Leaders Scholarship program.
