About This Program
The Master's in Special Education with a concentration in Educational Diagnostician program prepares professional educators to practice as assessment personnel in education. The educational diagnostician program equips professionals and educators from diverse backgrounds and abilities to provide individuals with disabilities exceptional assessment services and instructional support. Graduates learn strategies to collaborate and provide consultation on their campus or district to increase the provision of best practices in programming, instruction, and assessment to improve outcomes for students/clients in all relevant settings.
Educational Diagnostician Program student learning outcomes are based on Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Standards which align with the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Advanced Special Education Diagnostician Specialist Set.

EDSP 5396: Standardized Cognitive/Achievement Assessment
Use of standardized individual appraisal instruments and techniques in educational evaluation of children, youth, and adults for disability identification and academic assessment.
EDSP 5093: Internship in Special Education - Educational Diagnostician Certification
The arranged internship gives students practical experience in the area of Educational Diagnostician.
EDSP 5094: Advanced Internship in Special Education - Educational Diagnostician Practicum
The arranged internship gives students practical experience in the area of Educational Diagnostician.
EDSP 5308: Authentic Assessment for Students with Exceptionalities
Authentic appraisal strategies and techniques to document the strengths and needs of students with exceptionalities in a naturalistic setting.
