Dr. Torres is a native of Lubbock, and earned her bachelor's, master's, and doctoral
degrees at Texas Tech. She has been an instructor at the College of Education since
August 2007, and has taught undergraduate courses for those preparing to teach culturally
and linguistically diverse students. In addition to her instructional duties in Teacher
Education, Dr. Torres, along with Dr. René Saldaña, works in partnership with several
local elementary schools to promote culturally relevant literacy through community
read-alouds, book-giveaways, and poetry reading competitions.
