Dawn Burke is a full-time Instructor in the Department of Teacher Education. She has been actively involved in creating service-learning opportunities for college students to mentor young children in underrepresented classrooms in early literacy.

In addition to teaching service-learning classes, she has been involved in several grant programs serving the Lubbock community and Texas Tech University. Specifically, she has served as Site Manager for Jumpstart for Young Children, Literacy Champion for East Lubbock Promise Neighborhood, and Department Liaison for City Year Study Away Program.

Dawn is currently working on a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and holds an M.Ed. in Language Literacy Education and a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies. Her areas of expertise include early literacy, child development, and service-learning.

In 2022, she received a TLPDC Spotlight Award in recognition of her contribution to services, programs, and initiatives that enhance the teaching and learning culture at the University.
