Ray Hernandez was a member of the inaugural cohort of the Texas Education Policy Fellowship Program and a passionate educator and advocate. Ray, who worked as director of high school programs at Alamo Colleges District in San Antonio, was committed to enhancing transfer-based pathways for secondary students to ease the transition from high school to community college. Ray passed away unexpectedly June 9, 2021, after dedicating more than 30 years to the field of education.  

To honor his legacy of light and leadership for students in the state of Texas, EPFP has established a scholarship supporting aspiring education policy leaders in Texas. The scholarship will pay the fees for future fellows that want to continue Ray's work.
