WHAT IS RED RAIDER EXPRESS PASS AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Red Raider Express Pass gives incoming students who are fully accepted to Texas Tech University an opportunity to sign up for housing and choose their residence hall and room before the official room selection date.

Depending on when students finish the first three steps of the Housing Sign-up process, the student will be given an opportunity later to complete the fourth step, where they pick their hall and room for the Fall 2025–Spring 2026 school year.

Details about the Housing Sign-up process and important dates are listed below:

HOUSING SIGN-UP STEPS:

  1. Complete the Housing and Dining Application.
  2. Sign your contract.
  3. Pay required application fee and deposit.
  4. Select housing and dining plans beginning in November.

By completing Housing Sign-up Steps 1–3 early, students can choose their room and dining plan earlier. The sign-up stage below will determine when you can make your selections.

What if I sign up after November?

All students who complete the first three steps of the housing process after Nov. 20 will have the opportunity to select their room and dining plan on the official room select launch date on Dec. 3.

After Dec. 3, any student who signs up for housing will automatically be able to complete steps 1–4 of the Housing Sign-up Process.

What if I want a specific roommate?

Red Raider Express Pass does not coordinate roommate selections. Red Raider Express Pass will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. But, if you have a specific roommate that has also been fully admitted to Texas Tech, you can encourage them to start the Red Raider Express Pass process at the same time. For example, if one student completes Red Raider Express Pass on Oct. 10 during Stage 1 and the second student completes Red Raider Express Pass on Oct. 25 during Stage 2, you will not be guaranteed coordinated housing. So be sure and work closely with your future Red Raider roommates to coordinate your Red Raider Express Pass Sign-ups.

What if I don’t have a roommate in mind?

Red Raider Express Pass does not coordinate roommate selection. Red Raider Express pass will be on a first-come, first serve basis. If you select a room and do not have a roommate at the time of selection, be sure to sign back in regularly to view updated assignment information which will include roommate information.

What if I pick a room and then want to change it at a later date?

Once you have secured a room (Step 4), you can log back in at any time to change rooms.

What if the room or residence hall I want is not available when I go to pick a room?

All room selection is based on a first-come, first-serve basis. Rooms in the more popular residence halls are limited. One of the advantages of Red Raider Express pass is that you have the option to pick a room before most students, which allows you to have more room options to select from!

What if I want to cancel my contract?

All cancellation requests must be submitted to University Student Housing in writing or submitted electronically (preferred method) by the student to housing@ttu.edu.

Cancellations received based on the cancellation schedule listed below will result in the noted refunded amounts.

What if I am a minor, under the age of 18?

If you are under the age of 18, you will have an additional step in the Red Raider Express Pass process. After completing the application, you will be prompted to input an email address for a legal guardian or parent. This email must belong to a legal guardian or parent. This will initiate an email to the legal guardian or parent who will utilize a link/code to co-sign the electronic housing and dining contract. After the legal guardian or parent has completed this process, you will then be able to continue with the housing signup process and make all applicable payments.
