The staff WILL be entering your space to conduct room checks on March 13, 2026. These room checks
are conducted to ensure the safety of the room and to document any policy violations.
Please review the residence hall policies before leaving the residence halls for the break.
Residents are NOT REQUIRED to vacate their rooms over the break, however, if you will be accessing the hall
at any time during Spring Break, you must fill out the Spring Break Planning Form
no later than March 8.

- March 14 – 15: Desk opens 12 – 1 p.m. and 5 – 6 p.m.
- March 16 – 19: Desk opens 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
- March 20: University Closed
- March 20 – 21: Desk opens 12 – 1 p.m. and 5 – 6 p.m.
- March 22: Desks reopens at 9 a.m.
Dining and Hospitality Services
- Check Hospitality Services for information regarding opening hours for the dining facilities during spring break.
Don't Forget To:
- Let your Community Advisor (CA) know when you are leaving.
- Make sure you have everything you need for the break (medication, passport, airline
tickets, contact lenses, jewelry, electronics, etc.).
- Remove all perishables from your room.
- Remove all trash from your room and empty your trash bin.
- Close all your blinds and lock your windows.
- Turn off all lights and ceiling fans.

Fall Break Information
Fall Break information will be posted here when available.

Reminders:
- Residents are not required to vacate their rooms over the break.
- If you will be accessing the hall at any time between Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 5 p.m. –
Sunday, Nov. 30 at 9 a.m., you MUST fill out the Thanksgiving Break Hall Access form no later than Monday, Nov. 24 at 1 p.m. The online form will be made available
on Nov. 7.
- Don't forget to let your CA know you are leaving.
- If you need assistance, please contact the Community Advisor on call. The number will
be posted in the hall office.
- In order to access your residence hall during the break, please utilize the card access
doors. Your card will still open the exterior doors throughout the entire break, even
though the doors are locked.
- Residence Life staff will be entering rooms on Tuesday, Nov. 25, starting at 1 p.m.
to complete a Thanksgiving break room inspection. Any policy violations will be documented
and referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
- Facilities staff may enter your room to complete FixIT requests.
- Limited Dining Options will be available during the Thanksgiving Break.
- Students should remember that they will be held responsible for their guest's behavior.
Guests must always be escorted by their hosts in the residence halls. Keys may not
be given out to anyone but the occupant of the room.
- Front hall offices will be open noon to 1 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. daily from Wednesday,
Nov. 26, to Saturday, Nov. 29.
- Offices will resume 24-hour operations on Sunday, Nov. 30, at 9 a.m.
Don't Forget To...
- Make sure you have everything you need for the break (medication, passport, jewelry,
electronics, airline tickets, contact lenses, etc.).
- Please remember not to leave your Service Animal or Emotional Support Animal (ESA)
by themselves over the upcoming holiday break.
- Unplug everything in your room except microfridges.
- Remove all perishables from your room (milk, eggs, bread, yogurt, meat, etc.)
- Take out your trash.
- Close your blinds and lock your windows.
- Turn off all lights and ceiling fans.
- Set your thermostat to "Heat and Auto" or between 70–75 degrees Fahrenheit and leave
the room at a comfortable temperature – this will help prevent pipes from freezing
and bursting (if applicable).
- If you do not plan to return after the break, please refer to the winter break closing
information.
Be sure to check all the hall policies during the break!

Reminders:
- All residents should leave the building 24 hours after their last final and no later
than Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, at 10 a.m.
- If you have an exam that ends late on Dec. 11, please plan accordingly to vacate your
space by the date and time above.
- If you are not moving to a new room for the Spring Semester or canceling your contract,
you are not required to take all your belongings home over the break.
- If your roommate is moving out, please ensure this space is clear of any personal
belongings to avoid the single room fee and so a new roommate may move in.

a.m. to complete a winter break room inspection. Any policy violations will be documented
and referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
- 24-hour quiet hours will begin at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2025.
- During the break, Maintenance and Custodial staff may be entering your room to change
heating and air conditioning filters, address maintenance concerns, and clean suite
bathrooms (if applicable).
- Remove all personal belongings from the restroom areas (including on the floor, in
the shower/tub, on the vanity, around the toilet, etc.)
- Suite Style Cleaning:
- As the cleaning of the suite restroom is specified in your housing contract, USH housekeepers
will enter your room and bathroom to complete this process. USH is not responsible
for any damaged or misplaced items during the cleaning process if they are left in
the restroom.
- If you need to request to stay past Thursday, Dec. 11 or are changing rooms, you must
fill out the Fall Contract Extension Request Form BEFORE Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. You will be emailed regarding the status of your request
by hall staff. The form does not guarantee approval for the student to stay past hall
closing. All requests will be processed by hall staff. It is unlikely that other requests
will be accepted. Should you encounter extenuating circumstances, please contact the
hall staff.
- Your room is reserved for the full academic year. If you do not plan to return to
Texas Tech for the Spring 2026 Semester, you need to cancel your housing contract and plan to return during the following dates and times to move out of your space:
- Jan. 8 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Jan. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Don't Forget To:
- Let your CA know when you're planning to leave.
- Close and lock all windows and doors.
- Close your window blinds.
- Unplug all devices and appliances.
- Defrost and unplug your mini refrigerators. Defrosting your mini refrigerator will
take up to two days. Do NOT unplug full-size refrigerators in suites/apartments.
- To defrost your mini refrigerator, follow these steps:
- Remove all perishables from the refrigerator and freezer.
- Turn off and unplug the mini fridge.
- Be sure to place a towel in and around the mini fridge.
- Once the mini fridge has defrosted, remove excess water using a towel or paper towels.
Leave the door of the mini fridge propped open to prevent molding.
- Perishable items left over will be removed
- Turn off all lights and fans.
- Take fish home with you if you have them.
- Please remember not to leave your Service Animal or Emotional Support Animal (ESA)
by themselves over the upcoming holiday break.
- Check all faucets and fixtures to make sure they are not leaking.
- Submit any maintenance concerns at fixit.housing.ttu.edu.
- Set your thermostat to "Heat and Auto" or between 70–75 degrees Fahrenheit and leave
the room at a comfortable temperature – this will help prevent pipes from freezing
and bursting (if you have a thermostat in your room).
- Take any trash to the dumpsters outside. Chitwood/Weymouth/Coleman residents may take
trash to the trash chute.
- Make arrangements for meals according to the Dining Hours on campus.
- Be sure you have all important or valuable items with you when you leave (medication,
passport, jewelry, electronics, airline tickets, contact lenses, etc.).
- To avoid potential water damage that may occur over the break, place your valuables
in a secure location off the ground.
- If your roommate is moving out, please ensure this space is clear of your personal
belongings to avoid the single room fee, and so a new roommate may move in.
- If you are not moving to a new room for the Spring Semester or canceling your contract,
you are not required to take all your belongings home over the break.
These points will help keep your room safe and clean for your return.
If you do not plan to return to Texas Tech after the semester break
- Cancel your housing contract via the online cancellation form below. If you need assistance,
please contact the Welcome Center located in the Wiggins Complex at (806) 742-2661 or housing@ttu.edu.
- Make sure you have everything removed from your room, and your room is as clean and
set up as it was when you moved in.
- Complete forwarding address information online via Roompact.
- Contact Micro Fridge to pick up your micro-refrigerator at (707) 953-7130 or visit collegefridge.com (if applicable).
- Residents who need to cancel their housing after Dec. 11, but have not yet moved out,
will need to cancel their housing contract and plan to return during the following
dates and times to move-out of the space:
- Jan. 8 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Jan. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
University Student Housing Offices located in the Wiggins Complex will be closed Wednesday,
Dec. 24, 2025, – Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, for university holidays. We will reopen on
Monday, Jan. 5, 2025.
Contract Cancellation
Fall Contract Extension Request
If you need to request to stay past Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, or are changing rooms,
you must fill out the Fall Contract Extension Request by Friday, Dec. 6, 2025, at 5 p.m. Approved requests are limited to graduating seniors
and Spring 2026 room changes.
You must vacate your room no later than 24 hours after your last final or no later
than Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, at 10 a.m.

Room Checks:
University Student Housing staff will perform room checks in all student rooms beginning
at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025. In addition to the points mentioned above,
please note the following:
- Mini refrigerators and freezers will be opened and inspected by housing staff. Perishable
food left in mini-refrigerators and freezers will be discarded.
- Staff will unplug any devices or appliances left plugged in.
- Any remaining trash will be discarded.
- Any found policy violations will be documented.
Road Raider Program
Evening Transportation Service
Contact the Road Raider Program if you encounter issues while on the road or have
unexpected car trouble. Road Raiders are parents and other adult family members of
Texas Tech students who help students who may experience car trouble, need directions,
or need a place to rest if they become drowsy. Road Raiders Safe Travel Network has
been described as the AAA for Texas Tech students and can be found at Texas Tech Parents Association.
