Timothy Burt

Timothy Burt performs trombone with the Gospel Brass, the Westwinds Brass Band, and the Hub City Jazz Orchestra. He has previously played with the Roswell and the Plainview symphony orchestras and was founding director of the Roswell Jazz Orchestra. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Music Education (1987), where he studied trombone with Robert Deahl and euphonium with David Payne. Mr. Burt also studied trombone and conducting with Dr. James I. Hansford at Wayland Baptist University. Mr. Burt has over 30 years of music teaching experience as a middle school/junior high band director, private lesson instructor, and prison Cognitive/Life Skills teacher. He has taught in public, private and parochial schools in Texas, New Mexico, and California. He is also a graduate of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv, 1996) and served as a minister in California and Montana.

The Gospel Brass

The Gospel Brass of Lubbock is an American-style brass quintet plus percussionist that specializes in arrangements of hymns, Gospel songs, and worship choruses as well as marches, patriotic and Christmas music. The group performs for retirement homes, churches, community organizations and civic functions. Members of the ensemble are Terry Driscoll and Paul Stapp on trumpet, Megan Walter on French horn, Timothy Burt on trombone, Jesse Polly on tuba, and Greg Hatchet on percussion.
