percussion
The Percussion Area of the Texas Tech University School of Music offers an immersive, total percussion experience designed to cultivate contemporary performers and educators in the percussive arts. Students enrolled in our Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral degree programs study directly with primary faculty in lessons, classes, and chamber ensembles each semester.
Our inclusive curriculum highlights the study of contemporary and classical traditions, as well as diverse percussion music from Brazil and Trinidad & Tobago. The percussion ensembles actively perform on campus and in the Lubbock community, and travel frequently to national and international conferences. Recent performances have included trips to Hawaii, Italy, China, Scotland, and Spain.
Studios
Upon your audition to the school of music, you will be placed in your corresponding instrument/voice studio. Studios are managed and taught by the corresponding instrument/voice professor and these studios meet once a week for a masterclass to discuss pedagogy.
