Graduate Application Procedure

To be accepted into one of the Masters or Doctoral Degree programs in music, the applicant must be approved by the School of Music and admitted by the Texas Tech Graduate School.

The following steps are required:

Apply to the Graduate School here.

You will be prompted to submit the following documents/information:

— A complete curriculum vitae showing your training and experience.

— A personal statement of professional goals and aspirations.

— Sample of written work, such as term paper, master's thesis, published article, etc.

— Letters of recommendation (2-3) are required. 

— Additional audio/video materials may be required for specific degree programs, to be uploaded under "Optional Materials" within the application system. Visit the graduate auditions page for more detailed information.

2. A personal interview or audition before the appropriate divisional faculty is typically required, but if travel to Texas Tech University is not an option, telephone or online interviews may be an option.  A preliminary review of application materials by faculty generally precedes the invitation for a personal audition or interview.

* Scores on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) are NOT required for admission to any graduate music degree.
