The woodwind area is known for its innovative and progressive teaching methods to help prepare performers and educators for professional and personal success.

The woodwind area strives for inclusivity and positive studio environments to help nurture and support all students through the learning, teaching, and performing process.

The woodwind area has a strong passion for developing outstanding student performers/teachers well-equipped to enter today’s job market with professional skills relevant to the current market.

Studios

Upon your audition to the school of music, you will be placed in your corresponding instrument/voice studio. Studios are managed and taught by the corresponding instrument/voice professor and these studios meet once a week for a masterclass to discuss pedagogy. The studios consist of the following instruments:

  • Bassoon
  • Clarinet
  • Flute
  • Oboe
  • Saxophone
