Jay Chapa currently serves as City Manager for the City of Fort Worth, a role he assumed in January 2025 following nearly three decades of experience in public administration and economic development. In this capacity, he leads one of the fastest-growing large cities in the United States, overseeing municipal operations, public services, and strategic planning for a population exceeding 950,000 residents.

Prior to his appointment as City Manager, Jay served as Deputy City Manager and held various leadership roles within the City of Fort Worth for more than 25 years. His responsibilities spanned economic development, housing, police, planning and development, and infrastructure. He played a pivotal role in shaping major redevelopment initiatives, including projects in the Stockyards, downtown Fort Worth, and the Southside Hospital District, contributing to over $15 billion in investment.

In addition to his public sector leadership, Jay founded J Chapa Strategic Solutions LLC, providing consulting services on public policy and development initiatives across Texas.

Jay holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from Texas Tech University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Texas. He remains an active Red Raider and serves on the board of the Real Estate Council of Greater Fort Worth, the Mayor’s Council on Education and Workforce, and CDFI Friendly Fort Worth.
