C. Lloyd Brown is an entrepreneur, author, and executive coach with a distinguished career in the oil and gas industry. He co-founded Smart Chemical Services in 2008, growing the company into one of the fastest-expanding oilfield chemical providers in the country. Under his leadership as CEO, Smart Chemical earned a place on the Inc. 5000 list for three consecutive years—2017, 2018, and 2019. In 2020, Lloyd transitioned from the CEO role to serve as Vice Chairman of the Board, continuing to guide the company’s long-term vision and strategic direction. In 2021, Lloyd published his first book, Refined by Failure: Breaking Rules and Getting Burned, which explores lessons in leadership, resilience, and entrepreneurial growth. He went on to found Refined by Failure, a coaching practice dedicated to helping entrepreneurs, executives, and business leaders refine their decision-making, strengthen their teams, and lead with intentionality. Lloyd’s additional professional experience includes work in risk management with CBIZ, where he specialized in group captive insurance programs. A proud Texas Tech alumnus, Lloyd earned his B.B.A. in Petroleum Land Management in 1987. He currently serves on the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation, where he is also a former Chairman of the Board. Lloyd is married to Lora, and they have one daughter, Bailey.
