Voicework®.
As an actor, her on-stage work has been seen regionally throughout NYC, LA, DC/Baltimore, the Midwest, and internationally in Dublin, Brussels, Prague and Edinburgh, in addition to several commercial, voice-over, and on-camera hosting contracts.
As a voice and dialect coach, some recent credits include: A Christmas Carol (Ford's Theatre) Julius Caesar, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and A Tale of Two Cities (The National Players), Carousel (Olney Theatre), These Shining Lives (UMBC), Old Times and Arcadia (Washington College) and The Mousetrap (Laurel Mill Playhouse), among many others. Rachel also coaches individuals, government and corporate clients in voice, breath support, dialect modification, and public speaking and presentation skills.
Prior to her work at Texas Tech, Rachel taught Voice, Public Speaking & Communication, Rhetoric, Oral Interpretation of Literature and various courses in Acting (for stage and screen) at the University of MD - Baltimore County, Washington College, the Community Colleges of Baltimore County, and the University of Missouri - Kansas City.
Additionally, several of Rachel's on-going outreach projects have garnered a plethora
of local attention and press and helped to facilitate a burgeoning interest in local
art and culture, while strengthening the community. Submit 10 Baltimore—a project
Rachel created, produced, organized, and hosted in the growing Station North Arts
& Entertainment District of Baltimore— combines a multi-cultural array of talented
local writers with talented local performers in a “spontaneously cast, ego-free” night
of short readings and has played in bars on North Avenue for months, ultimately transforming
their usual slow Mondays into bustling performance nights, populated with eager patrons.
In 2012, Rachel received a “Think Big” award from the National Endowment for the Arts
for her work on Submit 10 Baltimore.
