December 2020 Graduates

Michael Yarick

November 24, 2020

Countless hours of rehearsal and preparation, in addition to the typical course load of a working college student lead up to this moment. Although no one could have predicted the additional challenges that these last semesters would hold, we do know that in their time at TTU, students in the School of Theatre and Dance have endlessly proven their ability to adapt to new situations in creative ways. As an excellent addition to this world of creatives, we would like to congratulate our December 2020 graduates for all of their hard work and accomplishments.

"College is intended to be a challenging experience that pushes one's boundaries offering a platform for advancement in scholarship, leadership, and personal growth. Every single moment with faculty, staff, and students at TTU has stretched me in ways I could have never imagined. I am vastly changed for the better by my education at TTU; and am deeply grateful to the dedicated people in the SOTD, SOM, and the CVPA for their unwavering support in this testing and rewarding pursuit. Now, more than ever, it is my hope to bring this spirit of generosity to future collaborations in the arts—telling the stories that inspire, entertain, and challenge our ingrained biases, joining in the offering of hope, catharsis, and social change."

"I know I am leaving TTU a stronger artist than when I arrived. I joined the program to become a better interdisciplinary theatre artist and when I think over all the diverse projects from the last three years, I know that it happened! Also, I learned how to weather a pandemic, so there's that. I'm deeply grateful for my wonderful professors, colleagues, and students who have taught me so much."

"I am going to miss the incredible faculty and staff we have here at the Texas Tech University School of Theatre and Dance. My doctoral studies have been enriched by each class I took and every professor I met. In January, I'll be moving to Atlanta with my partner and the hardest part will be leaving all our Lubbock connections behind. I'm so grateful to TTU and the School of Theatre and Dance for everything. I hope to do y'all proud in the future!"
