New cohort

Welcome to the all of the new students in the School of Theatre & Dance. Let us introduce you to a few members of the Fall 2022 cohort.

 

 

 

amanda baschnagel

Amanda Baschnagel is a first-year Master of Fine Arts student in Performance and Pedagogy. From Boise, Idaho, Amanda received a Bachelor of Arts from Boise State University. She is excited to see the productions!

Advice for Prospective Students? 

“Put yourself out there to do anything!” 

Mel Bullock

Mel Bullock is a first-year Bachelor of Arts student whose primary interest is Acting. Mel is from Salado, Texas, and she is excited to perform and learn on our beautiful campus. 

Advice to Prospective Students?

“To get involved as much as possible, meet new people, and have fun!”

Nati Gonzalez

Nati Gonzalez is a first-year Master of Fine Arts student in Performance and Pedagogy. She is from Orlando, Florida and received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida. She is excited to learn more about her work. 

Advice to Prospective Students?

“You will end up where you're supposed to be. What you put in is what you get so make sure you're always working hard.” 

Jared Hansen

Jared W. Hansen is a first-year Master of Fine Arts student in Scenic Design. From Phoenix, Arizona Jared received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Design and Technology at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. He is excited to get back into a creative environment as he pursues his graduate studies. 

Advice to Prospective Students? 

“Don't take yourself too seriously. It's okay to make mistakes as long as you learn from them and grow with each one.” 

Rengim Melis Kose

Rengim Melis Köse is a first-year Master of Fine Arts student in Performance and Pedagogy. Rengim is from Turkey and received her Bachelor of Arts in Acting at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey. Rengim also studied Acting at Silvio d'Amico National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Rome, Italy. She is excited for the upcoming shows, diverse classes, and working with the amazing faculty, staff and fellow students. 

Advice to Prospective Students? 

“Each actor or theatre professional needs a period in their life where they should focus on their training immensely and Texas Tech is the right place for it.”

Amelia Routhier

Amelia Routhier is a first-year Bachelor of Fine Arts student studying Stage Management and Lighting. She is from San Antonio, Texas. She is excited to start participating in shows and join as many clubs as she can. 

Advice to Prospective Students? 

“Don't be afraid to try something.” 

Ben Smith

Ben Smith, a first-year Master of Fine Arts student in  Performance and Pedagogy is from Leavenworth, Kansas. Ben received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Cinema with a concentration in Theatre from Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri. He is excited to take part in many of the offered classes and focus on his pedagogical studies. 

Advice to Prospective Students? 

“Do some research on what you may be interested in studying once you get here. It takes more thought than you might anticipate.”

Lily E Vetter

Lily E. Vetter is a first-year Ph.D. student studying History/Theory/Criticism and Design. From Sierra Vista, Arizona, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Design and Technology from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona and a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts (Stage Management) from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is excited to join the Texas Tech family as well as expanded her knowledge and develop her writing skills. 

Advice to Prospective Students? 

“Definitely do the research on the campus. This campus is huge and I've already gotten lost a handful of times. I also encourage prospective students to research which professors they may be interested in working with.” 

Abby Wolff-Smith

Abby Wolff-Smith is a first-year Master of Arts student studying Acting/Directing, and Design. Abby is from Kansas City, Missouri, and received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre/Cinema with an Animation Minor from Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri. She is excited to grow as an artist and scholar alongside amazing people.

Advice to Prospective Students? 

“If you can just find a group of people and skip the awkward faze, it makes a difference. By letting yourself be immersed in the culture around you, you find support.”
