Cosplay & Costume Technology Minor

The Theatre Arts – Cosplay and Costume Technology minor capitalizes on niche pop cultural interest in character expression and interpretation via the lens of costume technology. Whether to amplify hobby-based interests or prepare students with formal skillsets needed to distinguish them in the emerging market of cosplay costume creation and character development, this minor is designed to amplify the creative, narrative, and design-based aspects needed to participate within adjacent industry markets more fully, as well as to more successfully translate costume ideas into reality by leaning into traditional theatre-based costume construction techniques. A portion of this curriculum has been dedicated to software-based coursework that allows students to translate ideas and lean into new media based-fabrication.
