The TEXAS Fellowship is a statewide leadership development program focused on education policy.

Education policy is one of the most critical issues currently facing our state and nation. With a mission of developing a network of leaders dedicated to advancing informed, effective, and research-driven education policy in the state of Texas, TEXAS Fellowship is currently accepting applications to join its Fall 2026 cohort.

When the 90th Texas Legislative session convenes in January of 2027, this cohort will be uniquely positioned to take advantage of the fellowship’s design, which includes collaborative learning, a trusted network of policy experts and thought leaders, and cross-sector collaboration with other cohort members from various backgrounds. Cohorts are intentionally kept small (15-20 fellows) to maximize collaboration, learning and impact.

Fellows will leave the year-long program as stronger leaders and part of a statewide network committed to improving education policy in Texas. The schedule includes three weekend convenings at locations across the state, monthly evening sessions focused on policy issues, leadership development, and collaborative learning, as well as a capstone project based on real-world policy issues.

TEXAS Fellowship Director, Dr. Alexander Wiseman, a renowned expert in the field of Education Policy and Professor in the College of Education at Texas Tech University, sees collaboration and connection as critical pieces of the policy landscape. “The issues in education policy are complex. They can only be addressed when passionate policy leaders connect and collaborate. I am excited to work with emerging leaders in the field and create new policy pathways through TEXAS Fellowship,” Wiseman said.

TEXAS Fellowship applications are now open. Visit our webpage for answers to FAQs and additional details about the Fellowship structure.
