Family Business Student Organization

The Family Business Student Organization (FBSO) at Texas Tech University is dedicated to supporting students that have a passion for family-owned businesses. Whether you are part of one, aspire to succeed one, or aim to work in one, the FBSO provides a platform to learn, connect, and grow. The mission of the FBSO is to empower the next generation of family business leaders through unique opportunities and experiences.
Mission
The Texas Tech Family Business Student Organization (FBSO) is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of family business leaders across campus, under the aegis of the Alderson and Griffin Center for Family Business and Entrepreneurship, through networking opportunities focused on education, mentorship, and programmatic engagement pathways.
This mission is in support of five central goals:
Support students in developing the skills necessary to manage and grow family enterprises
Focusing on succession planning, sustaining a legacy, and embracing inclusive generational perspectives.
Connect alumni and community members to foster meaningful relationships
Share valuable experiences, and emphasize the vital role of family in business, and family success.
Promote the unique strengths, values, and traditions of family businesses
While addressing their challenges and celebrating with gratitude - the contributions of past generations.
Inspire
Inspire innovation, ethical practices, intercultural competency, and a commitment to long-term success in family-owned enterprises.
Provide a safe and supportive environment
For open discussions about conflicts, fostering solutions, and encouraging mutual understanding among stakeholders in family businesses.
Vision
To be a leading student-led networking platform that empowers Texas Tech students, alumni, and the community, across all colleges, to thrive in family business leadership and innovation, fostering a legacy of excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, sustainability, and continuity.
Events & Activities
The FBSO works closely with the Alderson and Griffin Center to exclusively host and execute activities of centers initiative titled, The Networking Pass (TNP).
