Council members serve three-year terms, with the opportunity to renew based on engagement and contribution. Members are expected to:

  • Attend two Council meetings per year, typically held in the fall and spring semesters
  • Participate in at least one standing committee
  • Make an annual financial contribution, as outlined by the Dean and Executive Committee
  • Support student recruitment, mentorship, and professional development efforts
  • Serve as ambassadors for the Rawls College of Business within their professional and personal networks

Members may also be invited to participate in classroom engagements, mentor students, host or attend events, and help connect students with internships and full-time employment opportunities.

After six years of service, members may transition to Emeritus status and remain involved in a non-voting, honorary capacity.

Council members are encouraged to engage through one or more standing committees that support the Council’s work and impact:

  1. Membership Committee – Identify and welcome new members who align with the Council’s mission and values.
  2. Development Committee – Assist with fundraising and strategic initiatives that support the College’s priorities.
  3. Recruitment & Placement Committee – Help attract top students to Rawls and connect graduates with rewarding careers.
  4. Mentoring Committee – Develop opportunities for alumni and members to guide students through academic and professional growth.
  5. Engagement Committee – Foster stronger relationships among Council members, alumni, and the broader Rawls community.

As members progress, leadership opportunities expand. Those who demonstrate commitment and initiative may serve as Committee Chairs, Vice-Chair, or Chair of the Council, guiding the vision and impact of the organization.
