For over 28 years, T. M. "Roe" Patterson has worked in the energy industry, owning and operating multiple businesses and holding significant leadership roles. His latest venture, ClearWell Dynamics, LLC, is the fourth largest well-servicing company in the United States oil and gas industry.
Patterson grew up working in the family's business, Patterson Drilling Company. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas Tech University, he briefly worked at West Texas Caterpillar before rejoining Patterson Drilling. After four years, in 2000, he left to form his own manufacturing and oilfield service company, TMP Companies, Inc, which he sold in 2005. Patterson joined Basic Energy Services in 2006 and held multiple positions in executive leadership over his 14-year tenure. He stepped down from his role as CEO, President, and Board Member in 2020. Patterson has earned many professional accolades, including the Fort Worth Business Press Public Company CEO of the Year Award in 2014.
Patterson currently serves on the Drilling Tools International board and the Rawls College of Business Advisory Council. He recently served on the United States National Petroleum Council under the United States Secretary of Energy, Rick Perry. He enjoys speaking on leadership and the energy industry. In 2018, he published "Crude Blessings," a book about his father's life and the oil and gas industry.
Patterson is dedicated to philanthropy, currently serving on the North Texas Alzheimer's Association Board, and has co-chaired several charitable events alongside his wife, Tonya. Together, they have two children and reside in Fort Worth, Texas.
