BBA, Finance, 1991
2024 Innovation Award

As a Texas Tech student in 1990, Blake Buchanan hand-built the original Bahama Buck’s “Sno Shack” and introduced “The Greatest Sno on Earth!®” to Lubbock, Texas. After earning his business degree in 1992, Blake co-founded Bahama Buck’s Franchise Corporation, where he currently serves as CEO and president.

Under his leadership, Bahama Buck’s has grown into a nationally recognized brand, now operating more than 100 locations across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

A passionate advocate for leadership and service, Blake is committed to empowering leaders to embrace the nobility of serving others while championing excellence at every level of business. His creative spirit shines through an extraordinary team who are on a mission to create the ultimate tropical dessert experience—including setting a Guinness World Record for the World's Largest Snow Cone at 25,080 pounds, made with Bahama Buck’s original Birthday Cake flavor.

An adventure aficionado, he and his wife, Kippi, travel the nation visiting Bahama Buck’s shops while supporting franchise owners, gathering innovative ideas, and sharing their simple message of hope: “Be the Blessing.”

Blake and Kippi are proud parents of three sons, all Texas Tech alumni, and are blessed with two beautiful granddaughters who, by God’s grace, will one day follow in their family’s Red Raider footsteps.
