Rinaldo received a Clinical Psychology PhD and a Master's degree from the University of Kentucky and previously received degrees from the University of Tulsa and Texas A&M University. 

His areas of research interest include individual differences among people, such as differences in personality, ability and emotionality. He regularly teaches statistics in the MBA program, decision theory (human biases and errors in making decisions) in the MBA program, and accounting ethics in the Master's in Accounting program.

His work experience includes extensive experience in large-scale measurement and testing ("psychometrics"), as well as individual evaluation and assessment in forensic psychology and neuropsychology. The individual assessment settings have included a variety of community outpatient and inpatient settings and in forensic psychiatric facilities, jails and prisons in Texas, Oklahoma and Kentucky. He spent more than a decade overseeing assessment to maintain accreditation of the Rawls College of Business.

His experiences and training have led to his belief that valid measurement is the first essential requirement for valid research and for forming a valid, reality-based understanding of the world around us.
