About

Jared Allen is an assistant professor at Texas Tech University. His research interests are in the field of entrepreneurship, specifically entrepreneurial pivoting and the psychology of entrepreneurship. He is also interested in the role of family dynamics in family firms, why and how entrepreneurs rebound from failure, the use of meta-analysis in entrepreneurship and individual antecedents of entrepreneurial performance. Jared currently maintains an active research program in entrepreneurship. He has published in Journal of Business Venturing, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Small Business Economics and Family Business Review. Jared has presented his work at international management conferences such as the Academy of Management Annual Meeting, Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference, Southern Management Association Conference and at local entrepreneurship incubators and accelerators. Jared teaches classes on new venture creation and business strategy.

Jared comes from a long line of family-business owners. His grandparents moved to the US from Canada and shortly thereafter started a business in California. Jared's father worked for the family business until he decided to open his own businesses, which Jared and his brother worked at for over several years. Eventually, Jared went into business with his brother and also started a venture for himself. Jared ran those business for over 10 years until he decided to pursue a career as a researcher.
