Lydia Wagner is an Assistant Professor of Practice in Musical Theatre and Performance at Texas Tech University. Lydia received a Master of Music in musical theatre from Carthage College and Bachelor of Music in musical theatre from Oklahoma City University as well as a minor in stage management. As a performer and stage manager, Lydia worked throughout Minneapolis/St. Paul at The Guthrie Theatre, Children's Theatre Company, Theatre Latte Da, and more. In addition to her work as a theatre maker, Lydia has coached young artists through programs like the Hennepin Theatre Trust Spotlight program and her own private studio.

As a musical theatre coach, Lydia specializes in performance techniques for popular and contemporary commercial music. Lydia's continuing research focuses on drawing a line from Appalachian folk music to the music we make today, working to de-stigmatize the origins of country music, and how musical storytelling today evolves from Appalachian folk.
