Joshua Taylor Whitt holds an M.F.A. in Technical Theatre specializing in Scenic Design, Properties, and Scenic Art from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and a B.A. in Drama with a concentration in Technical Design from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. 

Joshua has been the Production Manager for Texas Tech University’s Talkington School of Theatre & Dance since June 2019. Previously, they served as the School’s Scenic Charge Artist and Properties Master (2012-2019), contributing to numerous productions as a scenic designer. They have been a national member of USITT since 2006. 

Beyond their role at Texas Tech University, Joshua was the Production Manager for Flatlands Dance Theatre (2014-2019) in Lubbock, Texas, where they managed all production aspects, including stage management, lighting, sound, and projections. 

Before relocating to Lubbock, Joshua worked extensively in technical theatre, serving as a touring house manager and technician for regional concert series and theatres in Alabama, a summer Technical Director for a creative arts camp in Connecticut, and a scenic and lighting designer for various regional and university productions. 

Throughout their career, Joshua has worked across multiple facets of technical theatre—including technician, designer, and production manager—and thrives on opportunities to collaborate on creative projects.
