Alumni Design Award Submission Guidelines

All TTU HCOA alumni who are registered architects, interior designers, or architectural and interior design interns are eligible to submit projects for the Texas Tech Huckabee College of Architecture Design Awards Program. Entries are eligible even though the submitting architect, interior designer and/or landscape architect may not be the sole participant in the design. All participants substantially contributing to the design must be given full credit for their role as part of the submission.

Requirements

ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING

Provide on a single PDF (15MB maximum file size):

  1. Project Data Sheet: Provide all relevant information about the project program, schedule, cost and square footage.
  2. Project Narrative: Description of the design problem, the influencing factors on the design and a description of the design solution.
  3. Project Graphics/Photography (12 slides maximum): All information necessary, including photographs, to graphically illustrate the design concept/design solution. A graphic scale should be included on all applicable drawings.

The entrant's identification shall not be revealed in any way on any of the required project information or within the submitted project information. Any project may be subject to disqualification if it is not in full compliance with the submission requirements, or if the confidentiality of the submission is compromised.

Provide on a separate PDF:

  1. Entrant Identification Page:
    • name of the architect (individual or firm) and project team member(s),
    • address, owner, consultants, location
    • person to notify (e-mail contact information and telephone number)

It is assumed that the entrant has the legal right to submit the project in a competition, and that any required permissions associated with the submission has been obtained from the architect of record, designer, and/or owner (as applicable). Texas Tech University and the Texas Tech University Huckabee College of Architecture shall have no responsibility for verification of entry submission authority.

Payments

A non-refundable payment of $300 is required for each project submitted. There is no limit to the number of projects that may be submitted for design award consideration.

Schedule

Submissions must be submitted electronically by:
September 20, 2023

Notification of winners:
September 29, 2023

Texas Tech Reception at TxA Convention (Ft. Worth):
November 2, 2023

Announcement of winners to coincide with Texas Society of Architects annual conference.

Texas Tech University and the Texas Tech University Huckabee College of Architecture shall bear no responsibility for copyright protection of submissions.
