Michael Etter, Ph.D., a communication scholar at the Copenhagen Business School, is visiting the College of Media & Communication. Etter received his doctorate from the University of St. Gallen in organization studies and cultural theories. His research interests are in the field of corporate social responsibility, organizational reputation and new media. He researches the new challenges organizations face related to strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, organizational identity, and reputation in a changing communication environment.
Dr. Etter, along with Lea Hellmueller, Ph.D., and Lindsey Blumell (Ph.D. student), are preparing a study for submission to the 2015 ICA conference. The study focuses on social media guidelines in the liberal market system (U.S.A.) and the democratic corporatist system (Germany), investigating whether these guidelines complement or disrupt existing reporting styles and media systems under the umbrella of the news paradigm.
