Ian Wilkinson

Biography

After a childhood spent helping my musician father set up sound systems and taking apart all available electronic devices, a career in technology was a natural progression. Over the years, I have operated and maintained all manner of devices and media formats, from analog audio tape to IMAX to interactive museum exhibits and the latest in 3D digital projection.

One of my favorite aspects of working with technology is the opportunity to solve problems. Due to strong convictions about the value of education, the majority of my career has been with institutions which are focused on education. I endeavor to learn something new every day, and teach something about technology at every opportunity.

At home, I am husband of an artist and father to three young children. I play guitar and harmonica with my family folk band, and also serve the Galactic Empire as a stormtrooper with the 501st Legion. A dedicated comics and sci-fi fan (and repatriated Lubbock native), I helped to found and organize Lubbock-Con. I am thrilled to join the College of Media & Communication, and look forward to working with all of the talented people in the college!
