The certificate is intended for those who wish to develop a specialty in the area of planned giving, including complex techniques involving private foundations, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, donor advised funds, life insurance, and remainder interests. Students will also review and discuss the latest academic research on charitable giving motivations and fundraising strategies.

The certificate requires the completion of four courses:

PFP 5325: Introduction to charitable planning

PFP 5326: Advanced charitable planning for large estates

PFP 5327: Charitable giving - research, theory, and marketing

PFP 5328: Planned giving - demographics and decision-making
