David Laird

David Laird served as chief executive officer of Heart Hospital of Austin, in Austin, TX since 2006 before retiring in 2023. The hospital is licensed as a general acute care facility that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The facility is a recognized leader in cardiac care and has received numerous awards and distinctions for clinical and operational excellence. Mr. Laird earned the “Administrator of the Year” award on two occasions and “Hospital of the Year” on two occasions during his tenure as CEO.

Prior to serving as CEO of Heart Hospital of Austin, David served for four years as regional chief financial officer of MedCath, Inc., overseeing the operations of ten hospitals. Prior to that position he served as chief financial officer of three different hospitals in Texas and Arizona. Mr. Laird has a healthcare career that spans more than 34 years. He began his career in hospital administration after graduating from Texas Tech University and has held a variety of advanced leadership positions throughout his career.

Mr. Laird earned his Bachelor of Business Administration – Finance degree from Texas Tech University in 1987, and later earned his CPA license. He has been actively involved in charitable organizations in the communities he has lived and is currently a board member with the Austin Affiliate of the American Heart Association.

He loves everything Texas Tech and is passionate about contributing to the success and future of the university. David has been married to his wife Lisa for 35 years and they have two daughters, Ashley and Lauren.
