Doctor of Medicine (MD) / MBA - El Paso
The healthcare system is changing rapidly, and there is an urgent need for physicians with an advanced knowledge of business. To address this need, we have partnered with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso's Paul L. Foster School of Medicine to offer a Health Organization Management (HOM) pathway degree program where you can earn an MD and MBA, providing you the tools to solve the most pressing issues facing healthcare today through acquired clinical experience and business know-how.
program format
Through this pathway program you will earn both a MD and MBA degree within the required time needed to complete medical school. This 42-hour degree is fulfilled by taking 34 online MBA hours and transferring in 8 school of medicine (SOM) credit hours between your second and third year of medical school, otherwise denoted as your "gap year." Courses provide all the valuable information needed to understand important business concepts. Your courses will begin in the summer and be completed by the end of the spring semester. Advisors from both colleges will ensure all graduation requirements are met for each program.
admissions
Applicants will need to apply to both Rawls College and the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. Both schools must issue an acceptance for you to enroll in the pathway degree program.
This program allows entry during the summer I semester.
Deadline: May 1
International students are encouraged to apply at least six months in advance when
possible.
