For the first time in college history, the job placement rate is above 93 percent at the undergraduate level.
According to the May 2019 career outcomes summary provided by the Rawls Career Management Center (CMC), the undergraduate job placement rate for students of the Jerry S. Rawls College of Business is the highest in college history.
With 81.7 percent of the undergraduate class reporting, the placement summary indicated 93.5 percent of graduates secured employment or planned to continue their education within 180 days of graduation.
The positive placement rate can be contributed in part to the dedicated efforts of the CMC. With their mission of empowering students to prep, connect, get hired and succeed, the CMC strives to ensure students are equipped with the necessary knowledge and connections to achieve career success.
"The CMC team is extremely proud of the success our students are achieving in their job search," said Senior Director of the CMC, Barry Broughton. "Time and time again we hear how impressed our employers are with the Rawls students they hire. That is reflected in the level of participation we have at our career fairs and on-campus recruiting events. Seeing the employment rate continue to increase will encourage more employers to look at Rawls College for their hiring needs."
This semester, the CMC office coordinated the largest career fair in college history with 141 companies and nearly 1,300 students in attendance. Additionally, the CMC presented 46 professional workshops, met with 632 students during one-on-one appointments and hosted 87 employers for on-campus interviews. Their online job board, Handshake, currently has more than 2,200 employment opportunities for students.
"The Rawls CMC team is dedicated to providing our students with opportunities in every career field, as well as workshops and seminars to give them the tools they need to secure the jobs and internships they are seeking," said Broughton.
The career outcome summary also included job placement rates for graduate programs. With 93.8 percent of the graduating class reporting, the placement summary indicated 100 percent of MS Accounting students were employed within 180 days of graduation. With 81.3 percent of the graduating class reporting, 100 percent of MS Finance students were employed within 180 days of graduation.
