In September, the Jerry S. Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University hosted its annual Rawls Day event to showcase the numerous resources, organizations, and centers designed to support students on their educational journeys.
Themed "Around the World," the event encouraged students to explore various resources by providing them with a passport to collect stamps at tables set up around the PlainsCapital Courtyard. Once students filled their passports, they submitted them for a chance to win prizes.
Alongside the passport activity, several interactive activities encouraged student participation. The Rawls Center for Global Engagement provided a large map where students placed pins on their hometown/country and indicated where they would like to study abroad. Additionally, students had the opportunity to send thank-you postcards to donors and take photos at a booth featuring backgrounds from potential study abroad destinations.
Before the event, the Rawls Experience Hub hosted the second annual Rawls Day Preview as part of the Rawls First Year Experience initiative, offering first-year students an early opportunity to connect with fellow newcomers. Around 150 first-year students attended, participating in raffles, enjoying breakfast, and meeting peers to attend the event with later.
With 37 tables, 21 of them being student organizations, and about 1,200 student attendees, the event was a tremendous success.
